Herbs for anxiety are natural remedies which help to reduce the effects of anxiety with little or no side effects. They are made from plants and they are entirely safe when used as indicated.

Can I use herbs together with prescription medication?

Combining herbs together with medicines (prescription or over-the-counter) could under certain circumstances produce undesirable effects, some life-threatening.   • Valerian: valerian is one of the most useful herbs to reduce anxiety and tension. For a relaxing tea, pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1tsp. of valerian root, steep for 20 minutes, drink one hour before sleeping or when feeling anxious.
  • St. John's wort juice is a nerve tonic for depression and nervous exhaustion caused by excess strain.
  • Ginseng taken in combination with royal jelly is a great energy booster and lifts the spirits.
  • Skullcap is valuable in combating anxiety, stress and depression. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1-2 tsp. of the herb, steep for 10-15minutes, strain and drink 3 times daily, or take 2 drops tincture in water, 3 times daily.
  • Kava is also a very good herb to treat anxiety. Kava is sedative, so it eases muscle tension, but it does not reduce clarity of thought or impair mental function. In fact, it's recommended to improve memory.
  • Take a relaxing bath of a combination of herbs like lavender, thyme, lemon balm and camomile followed by peppermint and lemon balm tea before going to bed for a restful, healthy sleep.

Note:It doesn't matter if you use natural or prescription medication. No quick fix offers a long term solution. You need to partner any medication you take with something that will prevent anxiety from coming back, and prevent you from ever needing drugs or herbal supplements.
